The new spin on the 2001 PS2 survival horror classic has already sold over 1 million copies and is likely the fastest-selling Silent Hill game in the franchise’s history. And now, hot off that big blockbuster, Bloober Team has a new spooky game in the works that was just revealed at Xbox’s event. Xbox / Bloober TeamThe trailer shows a person in a creepy armored space suit exploring a dark world filled with nasty monsters who don’t seem very friendly. The trailer also features that same space suit-clad explorer playing a game of chess with an old woman. Eventually, the space-suited player wins and then gets up and seemingly kills the old lady with a wild-looking mechanical claw that pops out of his arm, while his victim seems resigned to her fate.AdvertisementHere’s how Bloober Team describes Cronos: The New Dawn on YouTube:Delve deep into the heart of a deadly struggle against overwhelming foes with combat-driven gameplay, all while uncovering the mysteries of a twisted time travel story.AdvertisementSo what’s actually going on here? No idea. But I’m getting big Dead Space, Death Stranding, and even some Silent Hill 2 remake vibes from the snippets of gameplay we get to see in the trailer, and I’m excited. Let’s hope Bloober Team’s recent hot streak continues when Cronos: The New Dawn arrives in 2025.
